My name is TORGER BAARDSETH.

I have been a coach and mentor for many leaders in the company I have served in more than 40 years, DNV, both female and male leaders from many nations. Many of them are in key positions in DNV at present. I will continue to dedicate my professional life after I have retired,  to share my international experience to coach and support young leaders with my broad leadership skill. I am formally educated as Naval Architecture in UK in 1971 and have got leadership education both within DNV as well as external training at INSEAD, IMD and Barnum ECL.

I have a dual career in DNV with half time technical disciplines, and half time leadership/organizational and human resource disciplines. I have been in leadership position the last 33 year. With my broad international background in DNV, I have handled many types of assignments as line and staff manager; – Director of Operation, Country Manager, Regional Manager, section and department head, Director of Human Resource and Consultant. I have drawn benefit of my combined technical competence and line managers experiences; – with organizational and human resource knowledge the way I use this combined competence in my daily work.

I have a broad technical experiences, without being a specialist, and have worked within all DNV’s business areas at the head office in Oslo and abroad; -Sweden, – Finland, – Russia and Middle East, 18 years as Head of Human Resource in various division and companies – all international operations. The last 13 years, as acting Regional Manager for East Baltic  (1 year) ; Country manager Certification Norway (3 years), Regional Manager for Certification Nordic Countries (3 years), later DOO of Northern & Western Europe, Vice President & Manager for DNV Business Assurance Middle East with Head Office in Dubai, UAE. (5 years). I returned to DNV head office in January 2012 and have the last year worked as management consultant with management development, succession planning and management training. I have also been a mentor and coach for managers in Asia and Europe.
